THE MOST DEMANDED SOFT SKILLS IN THE COMPANY
Here is one of the most heard terms this year, if soft skills were in full swing, this year with the pandemic they have shot up. There are still many people who do not know this term, in this post we tell you what soft skills are, the importance they have and how to develop them in the company.
What are Soft Skills?
Well, Soft Skills receive this name because they are a set of skills that appeal to a person’s emotional intelligence. We understand as hard skills the knowledge and study of fields such as programming, physics, law, marketing… Soft skills are also trainable, but their way of learning is different, a hard skill will get you interviews, but soft skills are the ones that will get you the job.
Soft skills are those that we develop in social relations, therefore also in the world of work. They are so important because how employees relate to each other, how communication is within the company and how leaders relate to workers will determine the efficiency of the training. Some soft skills are leadership, assertiveness, coaching, public speaking…
The power of Soft Skills to grow in the company
As I said before, soft skills are what make you get jobs, today it is fundamental to show your capacity to relate and react to different situations.
In order to understand this better, I’m going to tell you the most in-demand soft skills and their role in the company:
- Coaching: the functioning of the team is everything, the members of a group must be aligned to reach the goal and obtain the best result. The aim of coaching is to achieve effective results, to motivate and satisfy employees regardless of their position in the company. This process is managed by a coach who is responsible for both personal and team growth.
- Assertiveness: it is a skill that has great value in companies, we could define it as the ability to “get angry well”, that is, to transmit our opinion on a matter defending our interests without an aggressive attitude, reaching an agreement without confrontation.
- Leadership: we can find different types of leaders, from the transactional one (the one who works on the basis of punishment or reward) to the transformational one (the one who is another member of the team, motivates and cares for the employees and reaches the objectives together). There are people who are already born with leadership skills, but above all these are acquired with time and experience.
These are some of the most sought-after soft skills in the company, as you have seen they are all essential for the economic development of the company. They are necessary for all workers, but above all for those with greater responsibilities. To grow within a company, not only do you have to have the necessary knowledge about your work, but you must also demonstrate (and increasingly so) your social skills, conflict management, communication…
How can I develop Soft Skills in the company?
Soft Skills are trainable skills and are one of the most in-demand subjects for 2021. Organising Soft Skills training in the company is simple, if we want to improve or reinforce the social skills of our employees so that they improve their well-being on a personal and working level, we must first detect what is needed in my company.
It is important to set out the objectives of soft skills training well, as often the boundaries between one skill and another can be blurred. For example, you may consider that a manager on your team needs training in public speaking, since sometimes he has difficulty communicating correctly, but in reality his need is for training in assertiveness; the manager communicates correctly but has difficulty expressing himself when he disagrees or must say something negative to his employees.
To ensure that the objectives and needs of your company are well defined, we offer a free audit service to detect the real training needs of your employees.
For training in Classgap for Enterprise we offer both One to One and In Company training. Depending on the employees and skills to be trained, we will use one methodology or another. Normally the leadership courses are carried out in individual classes to focus on the personality and development of an employee 100%. While the coaching classes are carried out in groups to see the team as a whole and what role each employee plays.
Online or face-to-face Soft Skills training for companies?
We are used to online language training but…. of Soft Skills? Why should it be different?
Work-life balance is still the priority of Human Resources departments when organising training, which is why online training continues to be the best ally for this to happen.
Face-to-face training requires travel time, a place where classes can be held and, most importantly, a schedule that suits both teachers and students.
Online training offers advantages to both the company and the employee (and the teacher). At Classgap for Enterprise, we want training to be as close and personalised as possible, which is why, using our Virtual Classroom platform, teachers and students carry out the class via videoconference, with the possibility of sharing files, screens and even a virtual blackboard, as if it were a classroom-based class.
